North Haven Man Sentenced In Connection To Wife’s Death

The man was accused of running over his wife with a car after a domestic dispute.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A North Haven man has been sentenced to one year of probation in connection to the death of his wife following a domestic dispute at their home in May 2018, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

Francesco Suppa, 67, was arrested on May 10, 2018 after police responded to Scrub Oak Road on the report of a woman struck by a vehicle. Suppa, the victim’s husband, was the driver of the car and told police it was an accident. The couple was involved in a dispute prior to the crash, according to police.

Police said at the time that Suppa “started his vehicle and sped in reverse down his driveway towards Scrub Oak Road striking his wife and dragging her prior to stopping and driving forward.”

Antonietta Suppa, 65, was hospitalized after the crash and later died from her injuries. Francesco Suppa was initially charged with first-degree assault but it changed to second-degree manslaughter after his wife died.

Francesco Suppa pleaded no contest this week to negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and first-degree reckless endangerment and received a suspended 18-month sentence with one year of probation, according to the Record-Journal.
