North Haven Police Union Raising Funds For Officers’ Families In Need

NORTH HAVEN, CT — The North Haven Police Union is raising funds for local police officers and their families who have been involved in recent tragedies and sickness.

As part of the fundraiser, North Haven Police Officers will be allowed to grow full beards until Dec. 31, making it “No Shave November and December.”

North Haven Police Union President Jason Janosko is organizing the fundraiser with a GoFundMe campaign titled, “Help Local Police Officers Families In Need.”

“We, as a Union, have participated and donated to ‘No Shave November’ over the past several years,” Janosko wrote in the post on GoFundMe. “Due to this year's tragedy involving Bristol Police Officers Sgt Demonte and Ofc Hamzy, we as a Union wanted to raise funds to give back to local Police Officers and families of Police Officers who have been involved in tragedy and sickness.

“Our goal is to raise more than $5,000 to split between Sgt Demonte's family, Ofc Hamzy's family, New Haven Police Officer Michael Hinton's family and Middletown Police Officer Matt Silvestrini.”

Hinton died in October after a battle with cancer, and Silvestrini recently died after battling an aggressive form of brain cancer.

“Please help us support these local heroes and their families,” Janosko wrote in the post. “In exchange for supporting our fundraising efforts, North Haven Police Officers will be allowed to grow full beards until 12/31/2022, making this fundraiser ‘No Shave November and December.’”
