North Haven Police Warn Of Phone Scam
Police are warning of a phone scam that was recently reported by a resident.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven Police are warning residents of a phone scam in which a resident received notification that their tax filings have four serious allegations that will result in "local cops" taking them into custody unless they call in the next 24 "working hours.”
“Aside from this popular ‘IRS’ scam, there is the one where the caller pretends to be a grandchild or niece/nephew that is in trouble with the police in another state and they need money to get out of legal trouble,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “Also, a scam where the caller claims to be from Microsoft and informs you that your computer has been infected with a virus and that you would need to send a payment to remedy it.
“Anytime the caller is ‘pushy,’ demands a ‘cash-wire’ of funds or requests a payment with ‘gift cards’…..it’s a scam.”
