Obituary: Dennis J. Mendillo, 63, of North Haven

He loved singing at the Pumpernickle Pub with his friends, going to car shows, and spending the holidays with his family and friends.

Dennis J. "Chunk" Mendillo, 63, of North Haven, formerly of Orange died peacefully on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Susan Spinelli Mendillo.

Dennis was born in New Haven on March 9, 1954, a son of the late Joseph and Lucy Forte Mendillo, and had resided in New Haven for most of his life before moving to Orange in 1989 where he lived for 24 years. He had resided in North Haven for the past four years. He was a service technician in the heating oil industry for 20 years until retiring in 2007 due to his illness.

Dennis was a fun-loving, ball-breaking people person. He loved singing at the Pumpernickle Pub with his friends, going to car shows, and spending the holidays with his family and friends. He is also survived by two brothers, David (Brenda) Mendillo of New Haven and Donald (Michelle) Mendillo of Milford, his sister in law Kathy (Ron) Castelli of Wallingford, his brother in law Jim (Laurene) Spinelli of St. Charles, MO, his extended family Bob & Sandy Cubelotti, and their three children, and his nine loving nieces and nephews.
