NORTH HAVEN, CT — Two young ospreys were rescued from a nest fire on Monday morning, according to fire officials.
Firefighters responded to Universal Drive for a utility pole on fire at about 8:08 a.m. and discovered a large osprey nest on fire with two young ospreys trapped inside, according to the firefighters’ union’s Facebook page.
The birds eventually fell from the nest and were collected by firefighters.

The injured birds were picked up by North Haven Animal Control and will be rehabilitated and released, officials said.
