Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle In North Haven: Police
Traffic is prohibited in one direction as police investigate the crash: BREAKING

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A teacher who was chaperoning students visiting from Uganda was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Washington Avenue on Wednesday night, according to police. The accident occurred at about 6 p.m. on Nov. 8 in the area of 281 Washington Avenue, police said.
When officers arrived on the scene, they learned that two students and two teachers, who were chaperones visiting from Uganda, were attempting to cross Washington Avenue to go to the Exxon Tiger Mart. Police said one of the teacher chaperones ran across the roadway and was struck by a vehicle that was traveling northbound.
The vehicle was operated by a 17-year-old North Haven resident, who remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Police say the pedestrian sustained lower leg fractures and possibly a head injury in the crash. The South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
All northbound traffic on Washington Avenue between Blakeslee Avenue and Temple Street is prohibited at this time (as of 9 p.m.), according to police.
