Police Warn Residents Of Disturbing Phone Scam In North Haven
Police say a suspect has been calling parents, claiming that their child has been in an accident and are in danger.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven Police are warning residents of a telephone scam in which a suspect has been calling parents, claiming that their child has been involved in a motor vehicle accident. The suspect says the child attempted to contact police, but the driver of the other car is wanted for murder, so he took the child and wants to kill him/her, according to police.
The suspect claims that if you provide money for the damage to the car, your child will be released unharmed. The suspect then will tell you to go to the bank and he will direct you from there where to bring the money, according to police.
“During these calls, you may hear what sounds like your child calling for help in the background,” police said. “The calls are very realistic, and the suspect is hoping your emotions will cloud your best judgement.
