Promising Starts for NHHS Basketball and Hockey
Victories over Lyman Hall and West Haven secure winning records for both teams.

Boys Basketball Trumps Lyman Hall

Quoted in the Record Journal, coach Peter Civitello said:
"We got off to a hot start and they fought back and Lyman Hall exerted a lot of energy. But in the end we still had our legs underneath us and got some easy layups against their press, that padded the lead, which we needed because they were banging some three's."

Currently, the team is ranked 12th in the state, a promising statistic following last season's 4-10 record.
Boys basketball will pick up again on January 3 with an away game against Amity.
Amarone Secures Third Win for Boys Hockey
Boy's hockey jumped to 3-1 Wednesday with a 5-4 win over West Haven.
Goaltender Mike Amarone put in a strong performance, making five saves during a two-minute West Haven power play, and blocking 23 shots overall.
In the Post-Chronicle's coverage of the match, Amarone complimented his teammates:
“I can’t do it without the help of my defense. Me and the defense work together well. I had a very clear view of the shots.”
Indians hockey went 7-13 last season, but coach Tom Roche was upbeat about the team's chances in 2012.
Again from the Post-Chronicle:
"This was a very big game for us,” North Haven coach Tom Roche said after his team improved to 3-1. “It shows we can play with the really good teams.”
The boys will face Notre Dame tomorrow in West Haven.
