Resident Helps Police Catch Men Burglarizing Home In North Haven

A resident alerted police to a burglary-in-progress in which one man posed as a landscaper while the other was kicking in a window.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — Two New Haven men were caught burglarizing a vacant home in North Haven thanks to the assistance of an alert resident on Monday morning, according to police. The resident reported a burglary-in-progress on Pool Road at about 8:50 a.m. The resident told police a man was kicking in a second-floor window to a vacant house.

Police said officers found Michael Reeves, 22, and Nigel Colemen, 19, on the property with tools used for cutting copper pipes. One of the men posed as a landscaper while the second man forced entry into the home with the intent of stealing pipes, according to police.

Both men were charged with burglary, larceny, conspiracy, and interfering with officers.
