Robbery Investigation Results In Prostitution Arrests: Police
Police say two people face prostitution-related charges after a reported robbery at Best Western and a brief pursuit in North Haven.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — Two people have been arrested on charges related to prostitution in connection with the incident that occurred at the Best Western in North Haven Wednesday morning. Police were alerted by a staff member at Best Western that a person reported they were robbed of their money and a gun was used.
The person, who was unknown at the time, then left the hotel and arriving officers obtained a vehicle description of the suspect, who was seen leaving the hotel. The suspect ignored police’s orders to stop and drove onto the highway heading toward Exit 10 on I-91 South. Police called off the pursuit due to high speeds and heavy traffic.
The driver eventually crashed while trying to exit the highway onto Universal Drive and suspects were tracked by K-9 Taro. They were eventually found inside Target and taken into custody, according to police.

Police continued to investigate and the victim wasn’t found for several hours. Police said the victim didn’t initially come forward because “their meeting at Best Western was for a paid sexual encounter.”
Police said they were able to identify the vehicle/victim and made contact with them late Wednesday night. Based on the interview with the victim, police said the robbery charges “could not be supported.”

Alexis Hernandez was arrested on charges of interfering with police, promoting prostitution, second-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving, engaging in pursuit, evading responsibility and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
Both were held on bond and taken to court on Thursday morning, according to police.
“This incident highlights how quickly incidents can escalate and how sometimes not everything ends how it may appear,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “It also showed us great coordination between patrol, K-9, and detectives, who all worked as a team to quickly locate these individuals. An investigation into the victim and the activities at Best Western continues. We would also like to thank the members of the community for their patience with us on Universal Drive yesterday, in what was a tense moment for them. Our number one priority is the safety of human lives.”
