Selectmen Approve Resolutions for January Town Meeting

The Board of Selectmen, including the recently re-elected Mike Freda, Tim Doheny, and new Third Selectman Alan Sturtz, voted last night to approve six resolutions to be presented before residents at the January 11 Town Meeting. 

Three of the resolutions, a $9.2 million appropriation to renovate North Haven's firehouses, a $4 million appropriation to repave over twenty miles of municipal roads, and a $710,000 appropriation for the design and construction of a new public works garage, will be voted on by residents on January 24.

At Thursday's meeting, the Selectmen reviewed the wording of questions that will appear on the ballot, and opened up the floor to public comment. 

Freda noted that bonds for funding the construction efforts would be taken out in increments corresponding with the progress of each project. The Town will also apply to grants to help defray costs once shovels are in the ground. 

Three additional resolutions, not intended for a town-wide vote but slated to be considered at the January 11 meeting, pertained to an open burning ordinance, the formation of a Blight Prevention Board of Appeals in conjunction with the recently-passed blight ordinance, and the 2012 building permit fee schedule.
