Teen, 14, Charged In Threat At North Haven High School: Police

A threatening message was found written in a bathroom stall at the school on Thursday, according to police.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A 14-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with a threatening message that was found inside a bathroom stall at North Haven High School, police said in an update Friday.

A North Haven School Resource Officer was notified on Thursday morning of a “threat of violence” written in a bathroom stall, according to police.

Police said the high school’s two resource officers began working immediately with school staff and police detectives to assist with the investigation.

“Patrol personnel were advised, and an additional police presence was deployed to the school out of caution,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “SRO’s remained at the school into the late evening for after hours activities, and again this morning an enhanced police presence was deployed to the high school. Detectives continued to work on this incident, and during the course of the investigation, a suspect was identified.”

The 14-year-old girl was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree threatening, second-degree breach of peace, and third-degree criminal mischief.

“We have determined there is no threat to students, staff, or visitors of the high school,” police wrote. “This incident illustrates the importance and value in our SRO program, as well as our partnership with the Board of Education and school staff. By launching an immediate investigation and working with our SRO’s and school partners, we were able to come to a swift resolution. We thank the BOE and high school staff for their cooperation and support. The safety of school staff, visitors, and our students, will always be a top priority.”
