Unemployment Declines in North Haven

According to unemployment figures released this week by the CT Department of Labor (CTDOL), North Haven's jobless rate fell to 7.2% in November, down slightly from 7.3% the month before. 

Statewide unemployment dropped to 8.4%, its lowest since June, 2009. 

Governor Malloy, speaking Monday, said that the drop was "encouraging," but added that work still needed to be done to create jobs and foster economic growth in-state. 

“There’s no doubt that for many, this is a tough holiday season, especially for those who are pursuing employment," said Malloy. "The state for too long sat idle, letting opportunities for job growth occur elsewhere.  We can no longer afford to sit by and let that happen..."

Unemployment went down uniformly across the region, with North Haven falling in the middle of the pack.

• Cheshire: 6.5%
• East Haven: 8.6%
• Hamden: 7.9%
• Milford: 7.0%
• New Haven: 12%
• North Branford: 6.8%
• Orange: 5.7%
• Stratford: 8.7%
• Wallingford: 6.9%
• Woodbridge: 4.7%
