There was a large police presence in the area earlier in the evening.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — In a Thursday night update, North Haven Police updated residents on the search for an armed suspect earlier in the evening in the area of Upper State Street and Hartford Turnpike. Several residents requested more information on social media after police said they had scaled back the search but no further information was immediately provided.

“Thank you all for the great questions regarding the search earlier tonight… The North Haven Police Department has increased our efforts to push out as much information as possible to keep you all informed, and engage our citizens,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “At times, we cannot share all of the information that is requested, as the investigation’s integrity is paramount. With that said, we would never leave the area of a search if there was a danger present. Earlier this evening, a crime occurred in a nearby town, and the suspect’s vehicle was located in the area of Upper State Street.
