In Fairfield County, 188 people were hospitalized with the virus as of Friday, a decrease of 23 from the previous day. The continued drop in hospitalizations in the county and the state is a positive sign, officials said.

"This looks like a nice weekend to get some fresh air at the beach or go for a walk at the park," Rilling said. "I ask residents to please remember to follow all precautions while out in public, including wearing a face covering when you cannot socially distance. It is imperative that while we try to enjoy a normal weekend that we remember these are not normal times. COVID-19 is still very much here.
