Police Investigate Infant's Death at Norwalk Daycare Facility: Update

The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon in a facility run by Christine Limone, the daughter of Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling.

NORWALK, CT — A 4-month-old child was discovered dead Wednesday afternoon in Norwalk at the licensed, home-based daycare facility run by the daughter of Mayor Harry Rilling, reports The Hour.

According to Norwalk police, the emergency call came in at 1:31 p.m., and in addition to police, Norwalk fire and Norwalk Hospital EMS also responded to the scene.

"Norwalk Combined Dispatch advised responding units that CPR was in progress," wrote police in a statement. "Arriving officers and fire personnel initiated medical aid. The infant was transported to the Norwalk Hospital, where the infant was later pronounced dead. The Special Victims Unit is investigating the incident. No addition information will be released at this time."

The facility where the incident occurred, Family Child Care Home, is located at 9 Hunters Lane and is operated in the basement of the home of Christine Limone, Rilling's daughter, writes The Hour's Leslie Lake. Limone was first licensed by the state in 2002. Information about the identity or gender of the child has not been released.

Before becoming mayor, Rilling was Chief of Police in Norwalk for nearly 20 years.

The fatality marks the latest case of an infant death investigation involving a daycare facility in the state, following incidents in Fairfield and Stamford, among others.
