'American Housewife' To Nix Norwalk Jokes

The decision to not mention Norwalk came after an outcry from the community about derogatory jokes.

NORWALK, CT — The producers of "American Housewife" have decided to curtail any future jokes about the people of Norwalk after the city's school superintendent wrote a letter to ABC. The show made a number of derogatory jokes about the city and its residents, including one where a character dressed as a pregnant "Norwalk prom girl."

“As a comedy, ‘American Housewife’ isn’t intended to offend anyone. We’ve heard the concerns of the people of Norwalk and have made the decision to omit any mentions of the city from future episodes," the producers said in a statement.

School Superintendent Steven Adamowski wrote a letter to ABC urging the network to stop the jokes. He said the show is another example of the divisive national discourse and that parents are disappointed that the network is insulting children in the name of comedy.
