NORWALK, CT — A teen died after being struck by a Metro-North train Wednesday night in Norwalk, according to the MTA Police Department.
In an email, MTA police said the train was traveling from Danbury to South Norwalk around 8 p.m. when it struck a 16-year-old "who was not authorized to be on the tracks."
The teen was struck by the train on a bridge overpass south of the Merritt 7 Station and taken to Norwalk Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased, according to MTA police.
There were no injuries to the train crew or passengers, MTA police said.
The teen's identity has not been released at this time.
A 17-year-old and a 20-year-old were also detained by MTAPD officers and charged with trespassing, MTA police said.
According to MTA police, approximately 25 passengers on board the train were transferred to a backup train to complete their journey.
Danbury Branch service was restored around 11 p.m. after being temporarily suspended during the investigation, MTA police said.
MTAPD detectives are continuing to investigate the incident, MTA police said.
In a news release provided by the Norwalk Fire Department, Deputy Chief Adam Markowitz said crews received a report of a train versus three pedestrians near the 300 block of Main Avenue with one pedestrian reported under the train.
When crews arrived in the area, two people who were being escorted off the tracks by police said a third person was under the train, according to Markowitz.

The third person was found under a rail car in between the two tracks, Markowitz said.
According to Markowitz, the rail car happened to be on a bridge over the river with very limited access combined with an extreme fall hazard.
"Due to the location of the train and the lack of access, it was decided to remove [the person] out from under the train and to try and get him into a rail car," Markowitz said in a news release.
Firefighters were able to remove the person from under the train and into a passenger rail car using a Reeves Sleave with help from Norwalk police and EMS crews, Markowitz said.
The person was then carried several car lengths to a location where he was able to be transferred to a stokes basket and then carried out to a waiting ambulance, according to Markowitz.
"The patient was rushed to Norwalk Hospital where he would later succumb to his injuries," Markowitz said.
No other injuries were reported, according to Markowitz.
In a Facebook post Wednesday night around 8:30 p.m., police said the department was "actively working an incident involving a train" near Main Avenue and asked the public to "please avoid the area and use alternate routes."
