Lexington Avenue redesign aims to speed up bus trips to train station (nancyonnorwalk.com subscription) β Norwalk officials are planning a redesign of Lexington Avenue so buses can finally run in both directions, dramatically cutting travel time to the South Norwalk train station for riders on one of the city's busiest corridors. The project would narrow one sidewalk, add safety features like raised intersections and flashing beacons, and offer free street trees to interested homeowners, using state Community Investment Fund dollars.

Student Wishes for Portrait of a Graduate Portfolios (digitalpromise.org) β Norwalk Public Schools are expanding their Portrait of a Graduate work by building student portfolios that highlight growth as critical thinkers and communicators. Recent focus groups with elementary students showed they value sharing work with real people, reflecting on progress, and having more ownership, guiding how the district designs its new Portrait Portfolio Playbook.

Cold case murder trial in killing of Norwalk sixth grader set to move forward (news12.com) β A long-running Norwalk cold case is moving forward again as the man accused in the 1986 killing of sixth grader Kathy Flynn returned to Stamford Superior Court after his first trial ended in a mistrial. Prosecutors plan to retry the case, which was revived through DNA evidence decades after Flynn was attacked while walking home from school in Norwalk.
