Nearly 200 Abandoned Vehicles Towed In Norwalk This Year: Police (patch.com) — Norwalk residents are seeing stepped-up enforcement against abandoned and inoperable vehicles, with police investigating more than 850 cases and towing over 190 cars from local streets so far this year. Officials say the effort aims to improve safety, free up parking, and reduce neighborhood blight, and they're urging residents to report problem vehicles by email or Tip411.
   

2. Norwalk Police Detective Retires After 27 Years (patch.com) — Norwalk is honoring Detective Courtney Downer, who retired September 1 after 27 years of service with the city's police department. Colleagues highlighted his work in patrol and the Detective Bureau, his role in resolving a serious gun case, and the many commendations and thank-you letters he received from Norwalk residents and organizations.

Norwalk Public Library Expands Access To Online Learning, Tutoring Platform (patch.com) — Norwalk Public Library cardholders now have 24/7 access to Brainfuse HelpNow, giving local students and adult learners on-demand tutoring and study support. The online platform offers live help in core subjects, test prep, writing assistance, language support, FAFSA guidance, and more, all free with a Norwalk library card and accessible through the library's website.
   

5. Norwalk test scores improve, biggest gains in science (nancyonnorwalk.com) — Norwalk's latest state test scores ticked up in English, math, and especially science, where the district gained 1.5 points on Connecticut's Performance Index. While Norwalk still trails statewide averages in all three subjects, the science gap narrowed as local students improved faster than the state overall, according to new EdSight data.
