Appleby family continues support of school based health centers and legacy of the late Dr. Robert E. Appleby

Dr. Robert E. Appleby's School Based Health Centers play a critical role in Norwalk students' lives

On Friday, November 6, 2015 at 10:00 am, a press conference was held at Norwalk High School. The children of the late Dr. Robert E. Appleby, founder of Norwalk’s school based health centers, presented a check for $12,000 to the Human Services Council to continue the work of this valuable program. In a meeting last month, Marge Appleby, widow of the late Dr. Robert Appleby had this to say:

“Bob would be so happy to see how far the program has grown and to learn about more expansions being made. He was so passionate about helping people and loved being a part of the Norwalk community. He worked with many good people to help execute valuable programs, such as Action Housing and School Based Health Centers.”

Director of the School Based Health Centers, Carlos Reinoso Jr. stated, “I appreciate the continued support and contribution from the Appleby family. It allows our SBHCs to provide high quality service to the students in our schools. My plan is to ensure continued efficiency and look to expand our services to reach more students in the Norwalk area than ever before. I believe wholeheartedly that all of the SBHCs play a critical role in the lives of Norwalk’s students and that “healthy kids make better learners”.
