Boston Marathon 2018: How Norwalk Runners Fared
Hundreds of Connecticut residents were among the nearly 30,000 runners registered to run the world's oldest annual marathon Monday.

BOSTON, MA — Nearly 30,000 official entrants braved the elements and packed the starting line in Hopkinton, Mass. on Monday to compete in the Boston Marathon, the world's oldest annual marathon. They anticipated the challenge of completing the 26.2 mile course, including the dreaded "Heartbreak Hill" between the 20- and 21-mile marks, near Boston College.
They came from 94 countries and all 50 states, with hundreds of Connecticut residents participating.
South Norwalk resident Daniel Daly, 32, finished 11th overall, ranking him first among runners in Connecticut. His time was 2:27:54.

Also in Norwalk, Javier Hernandez, 41, finished 59th among Connecticut residents and 3,695th overall. His time was 3:11:58.
Keighly Rector, 29, finished 118th among Connecticut residents and 7,947th overall. Her time was 3:29:55.

James Whipple, 40, finished 119th among Connecticut residents and 8,081st overall. His time was 3:30:26.
Shannon Whipple, 40, finished 141st among Connecticut residents and 9,478th overall. Her time was 3:35:28.
Jill Klein, 48, finished 238th among Connecticut residents and 16,424th overall. Her time was 4:02:43.
Kathryn Stoker, 50, finished 300th among Connecticut residents and 21,591st overall. Her time was 4:42:05.
Rachel Macdonald, 33, finished 323rd among Connecticut residents and 22,925th overall. Her time was 4:59:53.
Caryn Vita, 47, finished 352nd among Connecticut residents and 25,204th overall. Her time was 5:57:05.
