What do you believe is the No. 1 issue facing Connecticut, and how do you plan to address it?
The most important issue facing our state is the lawlessness from the Trump regime in Washington. Trump has taken an economy that was in an improving position with lower inflation, lower gas prices, lower interest rates, lower food costs and lower unemployment rates and blown up each and every one of these economic indicators causing pain all over the United States and here in Connecticut. Despite this, not one Republican candidate in Connecticut has renounced his policies and under Democratic leadership we have managed to have 3% economic growth in the second quarter of 2026, among the fastest in the United States. To answer your question, I will keep fighting the dangerous economic policies coming from D.C., pushing for the elimination of nuisance taxes on the middle class and poor, continuing to fight for housing that is more affordable for our children and seniors, and supporting Attorney General Tong’s efforts to sue to stop the illegal acts of Trump and his cronies that are increasing costs, such as tariffs.
Energy costs have been soaring in Connecticut. What are your plans to help address this issue?
We need to investigate how much of the increase in energy costs have been artificially created by Eversource’s refusal to carry through on their legal obligations to ratepayers. We just learned that the CEO of Eversource’s parent company admitted to shareholders that he was holding back on legally obligated investments in Connecticut to punish ratepayers until regulators approve Eversource being able to charge more money for storm reimbursement. This is unconscionable and is costing ratepayers hundreds of millions of dollars from failed upgrades to the grid. Second, it is important that the federal government authorize additional natural gas pipelines into New England, a fuel source that we are heavily dependent on for electric generation. Third, Trump’s illegal war in Iran must stop! This act alone is costing Connecticut residents untold millions and eliminating discretionary spending. It is raising costs for those who heat with oil, raising costs for gas for cars, diesel for trucks which then raises costs for food and other goods
Affordability has been a major topic across the country and here in Connecticut. How do you plan to address this issue?
We have done a lot on this issue in recent years in Connecticut, including the largest tax cut in state history, cuts in sales taxes and more funding to our municipalities.
We should completely eliminate what is left of the tax on social security - we are almost there and we should just finish the job! We also need to look at the issue of nuisance taxes, such as the property tax on motor vehicles. We need to find a way to allow municipalities to make up the revenue for their budgets but get rid of this tax that just irritates everyone and that almost no one in the country pays.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have a history of working for the 25th district and delivering for the residents of Norwalk and Darien. Working with my colleagues I was able to increase the state reimbursement rate for school construction in Norwalk, with new construction receiving a 60% reimbursement, an increase of over 35% from the old reimbursement rate, and the new Norwalk High School receiving an 80% reimbursement rate. Additionally, I have brought money back to Norwalk and Darien for projects that has contributed to making housing more affordable for residents, has improved infrastructure, constructed new playgrounds, roads and sidewalks. I am also proud of the work I have done rewriting the state’s Education Cost Sharing Formula, having an equitable formula be applied to distribute state education funds across the state’s public schools for the first time ever. Finally, most recently I worked on the compromise language that just went into effect on October 1st regulating License Plate Readers. A good start but we are not done with those. As we have learned more about them we must put more restrictions in place to safeguard our privacy.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I’ve been a consistent voice standing up for my district and the state. Public service is my passion and I humbly ask the voters of Norwalk and Darien for their vote this election. I love my job and it is an honor to serve.
