Maritime Aquarium To Hold Biannual 'Homeschool Day' Event

This special event offers homeschool students and their families the opportunity to participate in hands-on educational programming.

NORWALK, CT — The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk will host its biannual "Homeschool Day" event on Oct. 20.

According to a news release provided by the aquarium, this special event offers homeschool students and their families the opportunity to participate in the same award-winning, hands-on educational programming as traditional students.

"The aquarium is an incredibly unique educational resource," Vice President of Education Tom Naiman said in a news release. "During these sessions, students will build a deeper connection to nature and the world around us."

Homeschool Day features nine grade-appropriate programs that meet Next Generation Science Standards through animal encounters and scientific investigations.

According to the aquarium, families will be delighted by three new programs that develop critical thinking skills: "Build Like a Beaver,"Community Science for All" and "Water Water Everywhere."

Discounted admission is $14 for children ages 3-12, $19 for adults and $18 for seniors. Use the promo code HSD23 to receive the discount.

The deadline to register for discounted admission and add-on programs is Oct. 18 at 5 p.m.
