Maritza Bond Campaign for Secretary of the State Surpasses Goal
Democrat Exceeds $90,000 in Total Funds Raised, Will File Papers to Receive $400,000 Clean Election Grant from State

New Haven Director of Health and Democratic candidate for Secretary of the State Maritza Bond today is announcing that her campaign has surpassed $90,000 in total contributions raised. Maritza's campaign will also be filing the necessary paperwork to the State Elections Enforcement Commission (SEEC) for review to receive a Citizens Election Program (CEP) grant of more than $400,000 to run a campaign for the primary election on Tuesday August 9, 2022. Maritza Bond for CT is the first Democratic campaign for Secretary of the State to reach this significant campaign milestone.
"I am so humbled by the generosity of thousands of Connecticut residents who are
enthusiastically supporting my campaign to be the first Latina Secretary of the State in
Connecticut history!" stated Bond.
"Reaching this goal without the help of the Democratic party establishment is a testament to our people-powered campaign, and I want to thank each and every one of you who helped us get here," Bond added.

"I didn’t grow up with much, and what I’ve learned is that when you have a community around you, anything is possible. It is very exciting to see that our message is resonating. I am the only
candidate in this race with the executive experience to lead the Secretary of the State's office, protect our right to vote and work with local officials to make it easier to cast ballots in Connecticut. And I am the only candidate who knows first hand what the office can do to help our small business economy grow and create jobs, and the only one with the drive, energy and management background to get the job done. I am very excited to launch this next phase of our campaign and reach even more Democratic voters for the primary this August," Bond said.
In order to receive a clean elections CEP grant for statewide office, candidates must agree to accept donations of no more than $290, and cannot accept any contributions of more than $100 from registered lobbyists, and none from any state contractors. They must also raise at least $86,600 in qualifying contributions to be eligible to receive a grant.
