NORWALK, CT — A New Jersey fugitive was arrested Thursday at a hotel in Norwalk, according to police.

In a news release, Norwalk Police Lt. Tomasz Podgorski said the department was contacted that day by the Prosecutor's Office of Somerset County, N.J., to help them find a wanted fugitive from their jurisdiction.

Juan Marales, 41, of Edison, N.J., was wanted on five active warrants charging him with second-degree burglary, second-degree endangering/abuse/neglect of a child, two counts of third-degree failure to register as a sex offender and third-degree aggravated assault on a correctional/sheriff's officer, according to Podgorski.

Norwalk police were able to track Marales to the Red Carpet Inn on Westport Avenue, where he was arrested on a fugitive from justice charge, Podgorski said.

His bond was set at $1 million and he is scheduled to appear in court later this month, according to Podgorski.
