New Stew Leonard's Garden Center To Be Partially Finished By November
The Norwalk store's popular Halloween drive through display will also be set up in October despite the ongoing construction work.
NORWALK, CT — As construction continues on a major renovation project for Stew Leonard's flagship store in Norwalk, store officials expect a new indoor garden center to be partially finished by the end of November.
In an email to Patch, store spokesperson Meghan Bell said Thursday while the structure is expected to be partially finished by then, there is still work to be done and the Westport Avenue store will not be selling any products from it just yet.
Plans for the store's expansion, announced in summer 2021, include a new farmers market and indoor garden center. As recent as Thursday, customers in Norwalk could visibly see work on the structure taking place on the west side of the store.

According to Bell, construction thus far has been smooth and has not had much impact on day-to-day operations. This includes the store's yearly Halloween events, many of which are still scheduled to take place this fall despite the ongoing work.
"Our garden center team hasn't missed a beat," Bell said in an email, "having built a beautiful display of pumpkins and mums for our shoppers."

The free display, located in the parking lot just steps away from Stew's pumpkin patch, typically features items such as inflatable pumpkins, a spooky tunnel of spiders and a number of Halloween cartoon characters for families to view from their cars.
