Next Bulky Waste Collection In Norwalk Scheduled For This Month
The first bulky waste collection of 2024 for Zone 2 residents who receive garbage and recycling from the city is scheduled for this month.

NORWALK, CT — The first bulky waste collection of 2024 for residents who live in Zone 2 and receive garbage and recycling services from the city is scheduled for April 24.
According to the city's Facebook page, Zone 2 includes residents who live southeast of Route 1 and in East Norwalk.

City officials said bulky waste collection items should be curbside before 7 a.m. of the scheduled collection date.
Collected items should not be placed on or near a mailbox, fence, utility pole or a neighbor's curbside pile and should not block sidewalks or streets.
Acceptable items include:
- Furniture
- Mattresses
- Rolled rugs and carpets (no more than 4 feet wide)
- Metal items and appliances that do not include freon (washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, etc.)
Unacceptable items that will not be collected include:
- Bags and boxes of small items
- Household hazardous waste
- Liquid waste (paint)
- Tires
- Yard waste
- Single-stream recycling
- Clothing or textiles
- Vehicles/motor parts or any items with a title of ownership (motorcycles, trailers, etc.)
- Construction and remodeling debris
- Electronics
- Freon appliances
To request bulky waste collection, residents must schedule their collection in advance by filling out an online form here or contacting the city's customer service center at (203) 854-3200 or customerservice@norwalkct.gov.
City officials also noted residents must specify items they wish to have collected when scheduling for the bulky waste collection, such as "wooden chairs," "metal table," etc. This is important for the appropriate trucks to be scheduled for the items to be picked up.
