Norwalk Announces 2024 Bulky Waste Collection Schedule
The collection is available to residents within the 4th Taxing District who receive garbage and recycling collection from the city.

NORWALK, CT — The city of Norwalk announced this week the bulky waste collection schedule for 2024.
According to a news release provided by the city, the collection is available to residents within the 4th Taxing District who receive garbage and recycling collection from the city.

The 4th Taxing District has been divided into four zones for bulky waste collection services. Each zone has been designated two collection dates within 2024.

To request bulky waste collection, residents must schedule it in advance. They can schedule their collection by filling out this online form or contacting the city's Customer Service Center at 203-854-3200 or customerservice@norwalkct.gov.
Residents must submit a bulky waste collection request before 4:30 p.m. on the Monday before their designated collection date.
The collection does not include properties that exceed four units, such as apartment buildings and condominiums, and is not available in commercial locations, according to the city.
Further information about each zone and corresponding collection dates:
o Zone 1/ the dark green area on the map includes residents who live north of Route 15 and East of Route 7, between Route 15 and Route 1.
o *Bulky Waste Collection dates are March 6, 2024, and July 10, 2024.
o Zone 2/ the light green area on the map includes residents who live Southeast of Route 1 and East Norwalk residents.
o *Bulky Waste Collection dates are April 24, 2024, and Aug. 7, 2024.
o Zone 3/ the yellow area on the map includes residents who live South of I-95 and eest of the Norwalk River and also includes South Norwalk residents.
o *Bulky Waste Collection dates are May 22, 2024, and Sept. 11, 2024.
o Zone 4 / the red area on the map includes residents who live West of Route 7 and between Route 15 and I-95.
*Bulky Waste Collection dates are June 5, 2024, and Oct. 9, 2024.
Bulky waste collection items should be curbside before 7 a.m. on collection date. The city also asks that residents do not put their items curbside earlier than 48 hours in advance of their scheduled collection date.
Collected items should not be placed on or near a mailbox, fence, utility pole or a neighbor’s curbside pile and should not block sidewalks or streets, according to city officials.
The bulky waste collection consists of large items, such as furniture, metal, and hard plastic items.
Please note that if a resident fills out the online form but do not meet the eligibility criteria, the city will not accept your items. For items that don’t meet the eligibility criteria, crews will place a bright sticker or door hanger to advise residents that their items were not accepted, city officials said.
Acceptable items include:
• Bags and boxes of small items
• Furniture (such as couches, chairs, bookcases, etc.)
• Mattresses
• Rolled rugs and carpets (no more than 4 feet wide)
• Metal items and appliances that do NOT include freon (washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, etc.)
Unacceptable items include:
• Household hazardous waste
• Liquid waste (paint)
• Tires
• Yard waste
• Single-stream recycling
• Clothing or textiles
• Vehicles/motor parts or any items with a title of ownership (motorcycles, trailers, etc.)
• Construction and remodeling debris (concrete, sheetrock, masonry, toilets, sinks, shingles, pipes, furnaces, fiberglass etc.)
• Electronics (televisions, computers, speakers, etc.)
• Freon appliances (air conditioners, refrigerators, dehumidifiers, etc.)
