Norwalk Coronavirus Update: 2 More Deaths; 22 New Cases
Connecticut had 20,360 confirmed cases as of Tuesday.
NORWALK, CT — The total number of Norwalk residents who have died of complications from the coronavirus (COVID-19) was 52 as of Tuesday, two more than the day before, according to Mayor Harry Rilling.
Confirmed cases of the virus climbed to 964 in Norwalk, and the number of deaths in Fairfield County increased to 544 and confirmed cases reached 8,472.
"Learning two more residents have died from coronavirus brings me sadness and sorrow," Rilling said. "I offer my heartfelt condolences to their loved ones in their time of grief. When we issue reports, especially for those who have died, it's important to remember they are more than just a number. They are human beings and members of our community who have passed on. They have left husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, and children behind.

"This is a very sad situation in which we find ourselves," Mayor Rilling added. "We want to make sure we all do everything we possibly can to stop the spread right now. I know people want to move forward and try to get back to normal. When we talk about reopening and easing restrictions, we need to do it properly. I’ll be listening to the medical professionals and experts who are studying COVID-19 on when it will be safe to reopen. This is a very contagious and very serious virus, and we have to continue doing the things we know are working."
