Norwalk Dad Whose Infant Son Died with Alcohol in System Sentenced

Five-month-old Jacob Chiclana died with a blood alcohol level of 0.04 percent in his system.

NORWALK, CT - Bridgeport resident Jorge Chiclana, 23, was sentenced to five years in prison, suspended after one year, in connection with the alcohol-related death of his five-month-old son, Jacob, in Norwalk in 2014.

Chiclana was charged with manslaughter for giving his son a bottle containing 50-proof alcohol. Fox61 News reports that Jacob died with a blood alcohol level of 0.04 percent in his system.

Odalis Galarza, Chiclana's former wife with whom he had two other children, told Fox61 that she did not know he had placed alcohol in the bottle.

Chiclana eventually pleaded guilty to a single count of risk of injury to a minor.
