The event will also serve as a food drive, and attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items.

NORWALK, CT — The Norwalk Fire, Police and Public Works Departments, in addition to Norwalk Hospital EMS, are sponsoring a free Open House and Touch- a- Truck event on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to organizers.
The event will be held at the Public Works Center and Fire Department Training tower at 15 South Smith St. in Norwalk, and will feature hands-on activities, give-aways and demonstrations for all ages. Children and adults will learn how the City departments prepare and respond to keep residents safe, learn about different services and programs offered in Norwalk and explore fire, police and public works vehicles and an ambulance.
"The Norwalk Fire and Public Works Departments have been sponsoring annual open houses for more than a decade," wrote officials in a statement. "This is the third year the Police department is co-sponsoring the event and the first year Norwalk Hospital EMS is joining us. In 2015, approximately 2,000 visitors came to this event and it continues to grow each year."
