Norwalk Man Fires Gun at Oxygen Tank in Greenwich: PD

This story has a different ending than Jaws.

Greenwich Police believe a Norwalk man intended to blow-up an oxygen tank by firing a gun at it.

Police responded to a Stonehenge Drive South residence Monday after a report of an altercation between two males, said Lt. Kraig Gray, police spokesman.
Matthew Ilchert, 35, of Norwalk came to Greenwich to confront and intimidate a victim, Gray said. The two are close acquaintances and have bee arguing for days.
"Upon his arrival at the victim’s residence ILchert placed a metal Oxygen bottle on the pillar in front of the victims house and discharged a pistol at the tank," Gray said. "Investigators are currently operating under theory that suspect’s intent was to have the oxygen bottle explode."

The situation didn't end like the movie Jaws where Police Chief Martin Brody is able to obliterate a shark by blowing up a scuba tank. The round wasn't able to penetrate the tank or cause an explosion.
