NORWALK, CT — Although city officials are closely monitoring the coronavirus, Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling says residents still "should all take necessary precautions" to protect themselves from the disease.

Rilling issued a statement Thursday to assure residents that Norwalk will be prepared if the virus, now referred to as COVID-19, impacts the city.

On Wednesday, Gov. Ned Lamont said that the state is ready for the virus, but also admitted that there was a shortage of personal protective gear (masks). Nevertheless, Lamont said that residents do not need to panic.
