Norwalk Police Seek Resolution on Arrested Councilman

Police union leaders said officers felt verbally abused by Simms during his arrest.

About 20 Norwalk Police members in uniform went to the city council meeting in hopes that a resolution or conversation would start regarding Councilman Travis Simms’ treatment of officers during his arrest.

Sgt. David Orr, president of the Norwalk Police Union said police felt insulted by Simms’ behavior during his Sunday arrest, according to the Norwalk Hour.

Mayor Harry Rilling, a former police chief said he has spoken to Orr and that he will wait to review all information before a response to the incident is made.
