NORWALK, CT — A Norwalk elementary school teacher is facing multiple charges after police said she placed a student in a chokehold until they were unconscious.

Stefanie Sanabria, 50, of Danbury is charged with second-degree strangulation, risk of injury to a minor and reckless endangerment following the Feb. 24 incident, Norwalk police said in a news release.

According to police, Sanabria — who works as a math coach at the school — was demonstrating a martial arts chokehold on three fifth-grade students when one of the students lost consciousness as a result of the hold.
