Norwalk's Oyster Festival Names Headlining Musical Act
The annual event will be held in September in Veteran's Memorial Park.

NORWALK, CT - The Norwalk Seaport Association (NSA) announced that Sawyer Frederick, a Newtown native and the 2015 winner of NBC’s "The Voice" competition, will be the headlining musical act on Saturday night, Sept. 10, during the 2016 Norwalk Seaport Association Oyster Festival.
This year’s festival will be held on Sept. 10-11, and will again be sponsored by First County Bank, the sixth consecutive year the bank will be the presenting sponsor.
“The NSA is thrilled to have the 2015 Voice winner at this year’s festival,” said Oyster Festival Chairman Mike Reilly in a statement. “In addition to Sawyer Frederick, this will be a music-filled weekend with many regional and local acts on multiple stages.”

Fredericks, who was a member of "Team Pharrell" on the show, was 16 years old when he won, the youngest winner of the competition in its history. He also was the the first artist from the show to land 14 songs in the iTunes Overall Top 200 Songs Chart in one week, and his digital sales have exceeded 1 cumulative singles, according to organizers.

The weekend promises to be fun for the whole family with a host of activities and entertainment throughout the weekend. Back by popular demand for the third year, the Nerveless Nocks Thrill Show will perform their motorcycle high wire acts and other daredevil stunts (www.nervelessnocks.com). Also returning is the always-popular Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show (www.lumberjackent.com). Family-friendly fun will be available at the Kids Cove with rides, games and other child-centered live entertainment. Other attractions include a Craft Beer tent with more than 40 beers and the expansive Arts & Crafts Pavilion with more than 100 artisans and crafters. Plus, an international food court, oyster slurping contest, and much more.
The Norwalk Seaport Association was founded in 1978 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, education and public awareness of Norwalk’s maritime environment and heritage. The Seaport Association and its volunteers are solely responsible for organizing and financing the Oyster Festival. In addition to the Oyster Festival, the Norwalk Seaport Association owns Sheffield Lighthouse and its volunteers maintain the lighthouse and grounds as a museum and nature preserve.
