Obituary: Anne Barr Anderson, 74, Of Norwalk

Anne Barr Anderson of Norwalk passed away on December 2, 2023 at the age of 74. She was born on January 31, 1949 in Owensboro, KY to Virginia Barr and Atty. John B. Anderson. She attended local schools and graduated from Converse College in Sparenberg, South Carolina in 1971, where she was a member of the synchro swim team.

Anne Barr moved to Atlanta where she worked for 4 years. She moved to Connecticut in 1975 and worked at Gaastra Sails before joining GenDataComm in 1976. Later she worked at Benefit Admin and then Gary Oberst Law from which she retired.

In 1980 she became a certified scuba diver and along with Shirlee Maddren and Peter Romano traveled to 22 countries to dive and explore. She loved going to NYC for theater, opera, brunches and dinner with friends. Anne Barr was a member of Oak Hills 9-hole golf league until her illness prevented playing.

Survivors include her cousin Mary Cabell of Owensboro, Shirlee Maddren, her friend and partner for 45 years and her acquired family; Gladys and John DiDia, Don and Sheila Freitag and their family.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 7 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Magner Funeral Home 12 Mott Ave. Norwalk. A graveside service will be held on Friday December 8, 11 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery 81 Riverside Avenue in Norwalk.
