Obituary: Beatrice McVey, 91, Of Norwalk

A former longtime resident of Norwalk, she loved taking care of her grandchildren and family and was affectionately known as "Grannie Bea."

Beatrice L. McVey, age 91 of Southbury and former longtime Norwalk and Boynton Beach FL resident, died peacefully at her home on October22, 2022.

She was the loving wife of the late James J. “Jim” McVey, former SGT. with the Norwalk Police and owner of McVey Security.

Beatrice was born in Norwalk on October 18, 1931, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Bertha (Tobey) Jones. Affectionately known as “Grannie Bea” to many, she loved taking care of her grandchildren and family and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her son, James McVey and his wife Jennifer, her daughter Patricia Perez and her husband Louis, sister Janet Bloom and, grandchildren Christopher Anastasia, John McVey, Christina Howe and Kelsey McVey Knight, four great grandchildren, James and Shawn Anastasia and Kendal and Carson Howe, and several nieces and nephews. Beatrice was also predeceased by her son Jack McVey, sister Marion Frattalone, and her brother Kenneth Jones.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday October 29, at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery. Beatrice’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
