Obituary: Concetta Marotto, 100, Of Norwalk

A lifelong Norwalk resident, she worked as a seamstress for many years while raising her family and recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

Concetta Marotto passed away peacefully on November 13, 2022. She was born on October 28, 1922, and recently celebrated her 100th birthday with her family.

A lifelong resident of Norwalk, Connie was the daughter of Michael and Rafealla Ritzzo, and she lived most of her adult life in South Norwalk where she became a friend and a neighbor to generations of residents. She would delight in recounting stories of past decades and capturing the vitality of her neighborhood as she observed the changing times. She worked as a seamstress for many years while raising her family, the last ten years at Dooney and Burke before her retirement.

Connie was an active member of Saint Joseph’s Church, enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family, and she took pleasure reading to her children and reliving the classics that she would remember from high school. The music and movies of the forties and leafing through her photo albums were particular favorite past-times of hers.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Michael of 58 years, her sisters Rose Mola, Angelina Casavecchi, and Antonette Redican. She is survived by her three children, Michael Marotto and his wife Carole, Elaine Sansone and her husband David, and Kathleen DiScala and her husband David, her sister Marie Fenn and her husband Mark, her brother Michael Ritzzo and his wife Gail, and members of the Bonaddio family; by eight grandchildren: David Sansone, Rachel Piro, Marie Vergara, Amy Nill, Laura DiScala, Matthew DiScala, Stephen Marotto, and Jamie Marotto, and seven great-grandchildren.

Her family will receive friends on Friday, November 13, at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, CT, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Joseph’s Church, Norwalk, CT, on Friday at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Saint John’s Cemetery, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, condolences can be made to Saint Joseph’s Church.
