Obituary: Dorothy M. Oravez, 89, Of Norwalk

Dorothy M. Oravez, wife of the late Julius G. Oravez, died on May 13, 2022 at St. Vincent’s in Bridgeport, at the age of 89.

Born in Norwalk, daughter of William and Elizabeth (McCabe) Porter, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening and time outdoors nature watching. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son Douglas of Naugatuck, and daughter Deborah Volante and her husband Stephen of Trumbull, and her cherished grandchildren Christopher, Katherine and her husband Dylan and Zachary; and step grandchildren Anthony and Amanda, a brother James Porter, sister Dolores Reed, and several nephews and nieces. She was also predeceased by her brother William Porter.

Her family will receive friends on Friday, May 20, from 11 p.m. to 1 p.m., with a prayer service to begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Riverside cemetery, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
