Obituary: Douglas J. DeAndrea, 66, Of Norwalk

Douglas J. DeAndrea, 66, of Norwalk, CT, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 4, 2024.

Born on June 27, 1957 in Greenwich, CT, he was the cherished son of Joseph L. DeAndrea and Judith (Nevers) Inchautequiz. Following his graduation from Brien McMahon High School, Doug served in the National Guard before embarking on a career as a skilled chef and bartender. His professional journey led him to dedicate 20 years to the healthcare industry, where he excelled as a kitchen manager at two local nursing homes.

Doug's unmatched love for music and sports defined his life. His childhood pet duck, affectionately named after Paul McCartney, was a testament to his early passion. As an adult, his home was adorned with towering CD collections and autographed posters on the wall. Just when you thought there wasn’t any space left, he’d find a sliver of white paint to hang up another photo, trinket, or collectible shot glass. He also never missed a concert — somehow always ending up backstage to meet members of the band. An avid New York Yankees and New York Jets fan, he loved watching his teams whether it was in person at the stadium or at home on the couch.

Above all, Doug was best known for his love for friends and family. A beloved father, brother, husband, uncle, son, and friend, he possessed a generous heart and a contagious sense of humor. He was gregarious and lived life to its fullest. He worked hard and played harder.

Doug is survived by his son, Joseph DeAndrea (Micaela), his sister, Dana LeMay (Robert), his wife, Irina DeAndrea, his step-son, Dmitriy Sharitkin, his nephews, Jacob Waring and Justin Waring, his great-nephew, Elijah Waring, special furry friends Cinnamon and Ruby, and many more extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents and his former spouse, Janice DeAndrea.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave, Norwalk, CT.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests considering a donation to the American Heart Association.
