Obituary : Francesco “Frank” Longo

Frank was a kind soul who would help others, he was a family man who enjoyed Sunday dinners, trips to Italy and rides to Calf Pasture Beach.

Francesco “Frank” Longo, 64, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023, at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by his family, after a long courageous battle with illness. He was the devoted husband of Angela Longo, having recently celebrated 41 years of marriage.

Frank was born in Nicastro, Italy on June 10, 1959 and was a son to the late Raffaele and Maria Mastroianni Longo. Frank was a retired auto mechanic, working at Westport Honda for 27 years and the proud owner of Longo’s Auto for the last19 years.

In addition to wife Angela, Frank is survived by his daughters Maria DiPietro (Salvatore), Sabrina Geary (Shane); son Raffaele Longo (fiancée Morgan Ely); grandchildren Stella Geary, Nolan Geary and Luca DiPietro; sister Angelina Vescio and nephews Eugenio, Antonio, and Raffaele Vescio.

He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and extended family in the United States, Italy, and Australia.

He was predeceased by many loving family members: Aunts Caterina Longo, Giuseppina Mercuri and Anna Bonaddio; Uncle Frank Bonaddio; and beloved cousins Giuseppe (Pino) Giampa and Gino Mercuri.

Frank was a kind soul who would help others whenever he could. He was a family man who enjoyed Sunday dinners, trips to Italy and rides to Calf Pasture Beach. His happiest role in life was being “Nonno” to his three grandchildren. His laugh, strength, and loving nature will be missed beyond words.

Friends are invited to greet the family on Sunday November 5, 2023 from 2:00 till 6:00 pm in the Raymond Funeral Home 5 East Wall Street in Historic Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday November 6, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Norwalk. Entombment will follow in St. John's Mausoleum, Norwalk.
