Obituary: Freda V. Kisken, 84, Of Norwalk

Freda V. Kisken, 84 of Norwalk, CT entered peacefully into eternal rest on August 7, 2023 at Smilow Cancer Hospital - Yale New Haven Health. Freda was born on September 8, 1938 in Norwalk, CT to the late Clifford and Lillian Voorhees.

Freda began her life’s journey graduating from New Canaan High School in 1956. She went on to work for the Darby Real Estate Group in New Canaan for the next several years. She gave up her career to raise her six children.

In 1979 she attended the Nursing Program at J.M Wright Technical School in Stamford, CT where she obtained her LPN Certification. She utilized her skills at Norwalk Hospital where she spent time attending to patients in the NICU, and various other floors before settling on 8 West.

In her free time, Freda enjoyed crocheting and working outside in her yard. She also liked to tinker with broken things to see if she could fix them. One of her other passions was baking. She enjoyed making cheesecake for her grandchildren. There was always one when she came to the party.

In addition to her parents, she is pre-deceased by her son, Brian Kisken. She is survived by her children Gene Kisken Jr. (Jane), Arlene Morrell (Mike), Pam Ferraina, Laura Gilmore (Carl), Greg Kisken. She has five Grandchildren, Ryan Kisken (Kathryn), Nick Ferraina, Jennifer Whalen (Tyler), Gabrielle Ferraina, Michael Morrell Jr.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 18 at Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Interments will be private.
