Obituary: George 'Chic' Jacoby, 91, Of Norwalk

He was a member of the Laurel Athletic Club, Silvermine Golf, NHS Fathers Club and Cranbury Baseball.

George “Chic” Jacoby, 91, of Norwalk, beloved husband of Joan Marie (Earley) Jacoby for 69 years, died on Monday, Dec 19, 2022 at Notre Dame Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Newark, NJ, son of the late George and Rose (Laurenzano) Jacoby, he served in the U.S. Navy. A financial planner for IBM, he continued to share his expertise long after his retirement.

A member of the Laurel Athletic Club, Silvermine Golf, NHS Fathers Club and Cranbury Baseball, he enjoyed sports, the UCONN Women’s basketball and especially loved supporting and cheering on his grandchildren in their sporting endeavors. He and his wife greatly enjoyed the lasting friendships made while living in Naples, FL.

In addition to his loving wife Joan Marie, he is survived by their three children; Paul E. Jacoby and his wife Beverly, Lynn M. Harrison and her husband Peter, and Brian R. Jacoby and his wife Ann, grandchildren; Kelly (David) Zatorsky, Corrie (Kellan) O’Neill, Elizabeth (Marshall) Robinson, Brian (Mallory) Arents-Jacoby, Chelsea (Taylor) Jacoby-Schon and Spencer (Naomi) Jacoby and five cherished great-grandchildren, Quinn, Gracyn, Harrison, Sadie and Archer.

His family will receive friends on Wed. Dec 21, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, at St. Philip Church, One Father Conlon Place, Norwalk. Burial with military honors will follow at St. John Cemetery.
