Obituary: John Pailey Goodwin, 86, Longtime Norwalk Firefighter

John Pailey (Jack) Goodwin, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 10, 2023.

Born on April 14, 1937, the son of the late Norma (Goodwin) Pugh, he was also predeceased by his wife Patricia Goodwin, his brother Edward Robinson and sister Dorothy Farrington. After graduation from Norwalk High School, he fulfilled his life-long dream by joining the Norwalk Fire Department, where he made a career lasting over 30 years.

In that time, he also worked at various other local companies and served his community with pride. He was an avid lover of the NY Yankees, history, and any animal he came in contact with. Above all his greatest pride and truest love was his family.

He is survived by five children; Catherine Hunihan (Mark) of Woodbury, CT, Nick Rotella (Angela) of Dennison, OH, Catherine Motyl of North Ft. Myers, FL, Carla Leland (Wayne) of Macomb, MI and Jacklyn Palomba (Daryl) of Oakville, CT, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

His family will receive friends on Thursday, June 15 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. Funeral services officiated by Rev. John Livingston will be held on Friday, June 16 at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial at Riverside Cemetery.
