Obituary: Maria Fazekas Kalotai, 89, Of Norwalk

Maria Fazekas Kalotai, age 89, a longtime resident of Norwalk, passed away on August 2, 2022 at Norwalk Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Charles Kalotai.

Maria was born February 20, 1933 in Und, Hungary, the daughter of the late Janos and Theriza Prikosztovits Fazekas. She and her husband came to this country in 1956 as refugees from Communist Hungary. Maria worked as a Housekeeper for many local families and befriended many of them.

She is survived by her children, John Kalotai and wife Lenore of Shelton, Katherine Burns and her husband William of Bethel, Marieanne Kalotai of Shelton, and Kalman Kalotai and partner Marcela Flemini of West Hartford, a sister, Edit Huller of Peresznye, Hungary, sister-in-law Elisabeth Kaufmann of Hawthorne NY, niece Elisabeth McLay of Grangemouth, Scotland, 6 Grandchildren, Margaret Koenig and Husband Justin, Andrew Kalotai, Emily Kalotai, Christopher Burns, Kyle Kalotai, Jake Kalotai, and 3 Great Grandchildren, Jackson, Hunter, and Skylar Koenig, along with many nieces and nephews throughout the US and Europe. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by sisters Thereza Ribarits, and Elizabeth Godolle.

Her funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug 5, 2022 at St. Ladislaus Church, 25 Cliff St, South Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to “SSTV Capital Fund” c/o Notre Dame Healthcare 76 West Rocks Rd, Norwalk, CT 06851.
