Obituary: Marie Anna Grasso, 82, Of Norwalk

A 44-year resident of Norwalk, she was employed by Miller Communications, U.S. Surgical and the Norwalk Probate Court.

Marie Anna Grasso, of 82 years of age, born in the Bronx and a 44-year resident of Norwalk, CT, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on June 27th, 2022. Marie Anna was the wife of Vincent Grasso for 61 years.

She was born in the Bronx, NY, on October 6th, 1939 of Italian parents who were from the neighboring towns in the Naples region of Italy, Gragnano and Agerola. She graduated from Grace Dodge High School with many honors and was offered scholarships.

Her caring personality endeared her to everyone; always optimistic with a smile on her face. She was an intelligent and outgoing woman who cared for everyone that she knew, and even those that she barely knew. She loved everyone and was an exceptional cook and baker.

After her children had grown and the family settled in Norwalk, she was employed by Miller Communications and then at U.S. Surgical for many years. In her final working years, she worked at the Norwalk Probate Court for 17 years until her retirement in 2016.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Vincent; daughter, Rosanne Cundari and husband Rocco; and her son, Stephen and wife Lorraine, her grandchildren, Marco and Cara; as well as many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Antoinette Uvenio and Salvatore Uvenio; and by two brothers, Nicola and Thomas. She is survived by her three other brothers, Alfonso, Joseph (Loretta) and Frankie; and sister-in-law, JoAnne. She is also survived by her sister Tina Loretoni (John).

Relatives and friends may visit on Friday, July 1, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 2, at 10 a.m. at Saint Jerome R.C. Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk. Entombment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Visiting Nurse Hospice Care, Wilton, CT.
