Obituary: Michael J. Panella, 81, Of Norwalk

Michael J. Panella, 81 of Norwalk, died on January 1, 2023 at Waveny Care Center in New Canaan.

Born in Norwalk, the son of James and Mary (Barati) Panella, he had worked for Stop & Shop. Michael was an accomplished trumpet player, and had played in the New Canaan Town Band since 1960.

He is survived by his daughter Jamie Mollo and her husband Kevin, two grandsons, Kane and Syrus, and Diana Serrano whom he loved like a second daughter, his sister Mary Jane Ungvary and her husband John, as well as Jamie’s mother and Michael’s friend, Deidre Leigh Panella.

His family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a service to begin at 6:45 p.m., on Friday January 6, at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk.
