Robert Trachtenberg, 83, of Norwalk, CT, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 22, 2022. He was born to parents Murray and Rose Trachtenberg on December 10, 1938, in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Robert graduated from White Plains High School and received a degree in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University and a Masters in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University. He worked for Western Electric, Exxon, M&M Mars, Olin Chemicals and the IRS.

He is survived by son Scott Trachtenberg, daughter-in-law Alisa Glick Trachtenberg, son Dean Trachtenberg and daughter-in-law Sonata Trumpickaite Trachtenberg. He is also survived by his granddaughters Eva and Emily. Robert was predeceased by parents, and sister Muriel Trachtenberg. He has one surviving sister, Ellen Elowitz.
Bob was an exceptional handyman in his youth and enjoyed building things – including a treehouse and sandbox for his children and a beautiful deck for his former residence in Wilton CT. He enjoyed playing tennis, bridge, hiking in the woods with his family, vacationing in the Catskills, collecting coins and planting and gardening. He also enjoyed Broadway musicals and show tunes, and later in life was a fan of the group Celtic Woman. Bob was a Mason, like his father, and had a strong belief in Judaism.

When younger, Bob would attend temple services regularly. He was also a strong believer in healthy eating and later in life held himself steadfast to a gluten-free diet. Bob was a great father and husband who was always ready to help his family and children as needed – and did not want or expect anything in return from others.
The funeral and burial will be held on Monday, July 24 at 1 p.m. at the Independent Hebrew Society / Temple Shalom Cemetery at 143 Richards Ave in Norwalk, call Collins Funeral Home for details. The family will not be sitting Shiva.
